Build a life worth living.
I received my BA in psychology from Cornell University and my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I focused on adult mental health and substance use. I have provided therapy in the Department of Veterans Affairs, community mental health clinics, Duke University Health System, and private practice.
I have always enjoyed learning, and my approach continues to evolve as I learn from trainings, books, my own journey through life, and the wisdom and experiences of the clients I see in my practice. I have had training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic approaches, and mindfulness techniques.
I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy, believing that the power to make meaning in our lives comes from within ourselves. We often turn away from pain and suffering, striving to find ways to cope. Those very coping skills often get in our way, keeping us from living the life we desire. I utilize acceptance and internal exploration strategies, together with commitment and behavioral change, to assist individuals in moving into a life that is deeply meaningful for them.
I provide individual outpatient therapy in the office and by video (telehealth) to adults living in North Carolina. My office is located in Pittsboro, convenient to Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, and the Research Triangle Park. I enjoy working with those dealing with adjustment to life stressors/transitions (e.g. separation, divorce, parenting), anxiety, professional struggles, identity issues (including LGBTQIA+), relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, and depression.
